After a tough loss over the weekend at home to Union County, the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors responded with 33 runs in a doubleheader road sweep of AIE Monday. The Warrior outslugged AIE 16-13 in the opener and then rolled to a 17-1 win in the nightcap.

In the first game of the two, the Warriors came from behind twice to get the win. HCA trailed 8-4 after the opening inning. AIE took advantage of 8 Warrior walks in the inning in taking the four-run lead.

The Warriors cut the lead to 8-6 in the top of the second. The big blow came from J.J. Thompson, who led off the inning with a home run to right field.

HCA would then take the lead in the top of the third. J.J. Thompson had a triple and Tra Fowler connected for a double to spark a four-run inning that put HCA up 10-8.

Heritage pitching struggles in the bottom half of the third allowed AIE to get back to the lead. AIE used three walks and a hit batter to put three runs on the board and go back in front 11-10.

HCA would claim the lead right back in the top of the fourth. Again it was Thompson and Fowler leading the rally, Thompson with another triple and Fowler with a single, as Heritage took a 15-11 lead.

The Warriors were then able to hold AIE at bay to get the win.

J.J. Thompson was 3-3 with a home run, two triples, 3 RBIs, and four runs scored. Tra Fowler was 3-3 with a double, an RBI, and four runs scored.

In the second game, HCA scored 9 runs in the first and 8 in the second as the Warriors claimed a 17-1 win in two innings.

AIE pitching struggled mightily, giving up 12 walks in the two innings.

Tra Fowler continued his big night, going 2-2 with a double, three RBIs, and three runs scored. Cadyn Travis was 1-1 with 2 RBIs and three runs scored.

J.J. Thompson and Cadyn Travis combined to throw a two-inning no-hitter for HCA.
