Brody Williams had four hits, including the go-ahead single in the sixth inning, to give Lyon County a 6-5 win over Murray Monday. The Lyons improved to 6-0 with their second win over Murray this year.

Williams had four hits and four RBIs, but it was his line-drive single to left field on a 2-2 pitch that scored Gunnar Bingham with what proved to be the game-winner. Bingham led off the sixth with a walk and advanced two bases on a pair of wild pitches.

Williams, a Kent State signee, finished with four hits and four RBIs in the contest. His first inning RBI single scored Aiden Waters, who led off the inning with a single.

Lyon County’s Jackson Shoulders was cruising after allowing a first inning single. However, he ran into trouble in the third inning.  Murray strung together bloop hits from Carson Tucker and Abram McNutt to lead off the inning.  Andrew Orr ripped an RBI single to center to score Tucker, and McNutt scored on a wild pitch to put the Tigers up 3-1.

John Bingham came on in relief in the fourth inning and gave up two runs — the big hit an RBI double by Hurst that staked Murray to a 5-1 lead.

The Lyon County freshman settled down after the two runs scored and retired nine of the final 12 batters he faced.

Lyon struck for four runs in the fourth inning to tie the game. Williams stroked a two-run double to cut the Murray lead to 5-4. Shoulders, who had been hit in an earlier at-bat, scored on a passed ball to tie the game.

Williams was the only Lyon with multiple hits and had the only extra base hit for the Lyons.

John Bingham struck out seven and walked two in four innings of relief to notch his first high school win. Neither of the two runs he allowed was earned.

Tucker and McNutt each had three hits for Murray (3-4), who outhit the Lyons 11-9.

Lyon County, who has now won six straight games against Murray, will host Crittenden County in a district contest in Eddyville Tuesday.
