A nine-run first inning and Russellville pitching were a bit too much for the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers to overcome Monday night. Russellville scored in all four at-bats, including the big first inning as the Lady Panthers rolls past the Lady Blazers 16-1 in a four-inning contest.

The big blow for the Lady Panthers in the opening inning was a grand slam off the bat of Brinley Mason. Rayleigh Roberts added a two-run double during the inning.

UHA got on the board in the top of the second when Breanna Daniel walked, advanced on a passed ball, moved to third on an error, and then scored on a pop fly.

Russellville added another run in the bottom of the 2nd and a run in the bottom of the third to make it 11-1. The Lady Panthers then closed the game out with five runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. Addie Mosier ended the game with an RBI double.

Russellville pitchers A’miyah Collier and Addie Mosier combined to pitch a four-inning no-hitter. They struck out five and walked two, giving up one unearned run in the contest.

The loss, which was UHA’s first game in 11 days, drops the Lady Blazers to 0-2. UHA is back in action Tuesday when they host Hopkins County Central.
