Make it ten in a row to start the season for the Christian County Colonels. In what is becoming a successful pattern for the Colonels, they used a big first inning to get control of their game against Webster County Tuesday evening and then rode the stellar pitching effort of Gage Montes to a 10-0 six-inning win over the Trojans.

The Colonels plated all the runs they would need with a four-run first inning. Preston Phan had an RBI double to get things started. Josh Snorton followed that up with a double of his own, and by the time the dust had settled the Trojans were in a hole they would never dig out of.

Montes simply never let Webster County mount a serious threat. He would go all six innings on the mound, giving up just two hits, striking out seven, and walking just three. He was able to work his way out of a couple of tough spots in picking up the shutout win.

The Colonels would add a run in the fourth, two in the fifth, and then end the game with a three-run sixth inning. Elijah Underhill did the damage in the fourth with an RBI double. The Colonels took advantage of three walks and an error to score the 5th inning runs. Then, after the Colonels had loaded the bases on two walks and a double, Jacob Jenkins ended the game with a base-clearing triple.

Josh Snorton had another big game for the Colonels, going 3-4 with 2 doubles, an RBI, and two runs scored. Jacob Jenkins was 1-4 with a triple and four RBIs. Preston Phan ended the night at 2-2 with a double, two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored.

The Colonels continue to terrorize opponents on the base paths. Christian County had nine stolen bases in the win against Webster County.

Christian County improves to 10-0 with the win. The game marked the seventh time this season that the Colonels have scored at least ten runs.

The Colonels now get ready for a big 8th District game with University Heights on Friday night.
