Lady Blazers Rally Past Hopkins Central for First Win

The UHA Lady Blazers used a 5th inning rally Tuesday evening to come from behind and pick up their first win of the season. The Lady Blazers plated four runs in the inning to take the lead and then pick up a 6-5 win over the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm.

Hopkins Central took the early 1-0 lead in the game, scoring on a Lady Blazer error in the top of the first inning.

Regan Pollard tied the game up for the Lady Blazers with an RBI single in the bottom of the third. UHA then took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth when Lillian Bruce singled to left.

The Lady Storm got back to the lead in the top of the fifth, converting three walks, a hit batter, and a single into three runs and going up 4-2.

UHA’s bats caught fire in the bottom of the inning as the Lady Blazers rallied and took the lead for good. Trinity Luke, Regan Pollard, and Mallory Ladd, all had big hits in the inning as the Lady Blazers scored four runs and took a 6-4 lead.

Central would cut the lead to 6-5 with a run in the top of the sixth, but Mallory Ladd would shut the door on any comeback this time as the Lady Blazers held on for their first win of the season.

Mallory Ladd was 2-3 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored for the Lady Blazers. Regan Pollard finished 2-3, with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Krista Keller hit 2-3 in the leadoff slot with 2 runs scored.

Ladd picked up the win in relief in the circle. She pitched 2 2/3 innings, giving up one run on two hits, striking out two, and walking two.

The Lady Blazers are now 1-3 on the season and will host Russellville Thursday evening.
