The Caldwell County Lady Tiger softball team saw its four-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday.

Madisonville-North Hopkins pulled away late to deal Caldwell’s girls a 12-2 defeat in 7th District action at Lady Tiger Field in Princeton.

The Lady Maroons (5-0 overall, 1-0 district) scored once in each of the first and third innings to grab a 2-0 lead.

Caldwell’s Alicia Stanley then tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning with a two-run home run to center.

But Madisonville retook the lead with three runs in the top of the sixth, then put the game away with seven runs in the seventh.

Amber Osborne drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth for the Lady Maroons with a single to left. Mackenzie Stoltz then delivered a two-run homer to center.

In the seventh, Chloe Young singled home two runs to make it 7-2. Kennedy Justice later added a three-run homer to right to stretch the margin to 12-2.

Caldwell (5-3, 0-1) was limited to just three base hits in the setback.

Stoltz was the winning pitcher for Madisonville, blanking Caldwell over the final three innings in relief of starter Paige Patterson.

The Lady Maroons have won 32 of their last 33 matchups with Caldwell.

The Lady Tigers will play at home again on Thursday, hosting 7th District foe Dawson Springs.

Madisonville has a district date at Hopkins County Central scheduled for Thursday.
