The Christian County Lady Colonels offense had its biggest output since last May Saturday afternoon at Lyon County. The Lady Colonels pounded out 17 runs on 16 hits as they rolled past the host Lady Lyons 17-6 at Lee S. Jones Park.

The run total was the most for Christian County since a 17-0 win over UHA back on May 11, 2021.

The Lady Colonels scored in their first five at-bats including a six-run top of the first to get things going. Christian County would add a run in the second, four in the third, four more in the fourth, and two in the fifth as they ran out to a 17-3 lead.

The big bats came out early for the Lady Colonels. After a single by Pickle Winkler and a walk to Riley Hancock to open the game, Avery Adcock blasted a three-run homer to center to put the Lady Colonels up 3-0. Gracie Harned then hit a solo shot and Allie Houchens hit an RBI triple. By the time the dust settled the lead was 6-0.

After the explosion in the first inning, it appeared briefly as if the Lady Lyons were ready to turn the game into a slugfest. With Riley Hancock struggling coming out of the game, the Lady Lyons got going and quickly loaded the bases. Courtney Collins then hit an RBI single to make it 6-1. A Lady Colonel error allowed two more runs to score to trim the margin to 6-3.

However, on that same play, Lyon County’s Lauren Davis was thrown out trying to get to third, and that play and getting out of the inning without any more damage seemed to get Riley Hancock back in her groove.

Over the next three innings, Hancock would give up just two hits to the Lady Lyons, while her teammates cranked up the offense even more.

Christian County took advantage of a Lyon County miscue to score a second-inning run. The Lady Colonels would turn a couple of walks, a passed ball, an error, and four singles into four more runs in the top of the third and an 11-3 lead.

The bats were quickly back at it in the top of the fourth. Riley Hancock drove in two runs with a single. Karlee Crick nearly hit another home run, blasting one off the left field fence for a two-run triple as the lead grew to 15-3. Christian County added two more insurance runs in the top of the 5th to extend the margin to 17-3.

Lyon County tried to rally in the bottom half of the fifth. Hadlie Butler hit her second home run of the day to lead off. The next three batters for Lyon County all reached base to load em up with no outs.

Gracie Harned came into the game at pitcher for Christian County to try and close things out. After a strikeout and a fielder’s choice, Emma West drove in two runs with a single for Lyon County to make it 17-6. But that would be the extent of the rally as Harned then got Kendra Richardson to pop up to end the game in five innings.

Avery Adcock continued her outstanding start to the season going 3-3 with a home run, 4 RBIs, and 4 runs scored. Karlee Crick was 4-4 with a triple and 3 RBIs. Gracie Harned was 2-4 with a home run and an RBI.

Hadlie Butler led the Lyon County effort, going 2-3 with a home run and an RBI. Courtney Collins was 2-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Riley Hancock got the win in the circle for Christian County, going 4 innings, giving up six runs, four of them earned, striking out three, and walking three.
