Former Caldwell County Tiger Fonso White has stepped down as head coach of the Bishop Luers boys’ basketball team in Fort Wayne, Ind.

White spent four seasons at the school, leading the Knights to a 15-7 record and a Summit Athletic Conference title in the 2019-20 season.

White was named the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette’s SAC Boys Coach of the Year for the 2019-20 season. OutsidetheHuddle.com also chose White as the conference Coach of the Year.

Overall, White was 33-58 at Bishop Luers, including a 5-18 mark this past season.

White and his family live near Indianapolis, which left him with about a 2-hour drive — each way — to get to Fort Wayne and return home each day.

White, a 1993 Caldwell County High School graduate, plans to stay in the coaching profession.
