It’s been a long time since Caldwell County had a home track meet.
The track at Tiger Stadium has been in need of repairs for years, and simply hasn’t been up to standards to host athletes from other schools for a meet. Caldwell has still been able to use it for practice, but has been forced to compete exclusively away from home.
However, that should change in the near future.
Caldwell track coach Steve Shaw was on The Sideline Report on WPKY Radio last week and said plans are already in motion to resurface the track at the school, which would make home meets possible again next spring…
If all goes as planned, Shaw said the track resurfacing project will be completed this summer, before students return to school in August…
The project comes at a time when the Caldwell track program is seeing a resurgence in the number of students turning out for the sport…
Shaw says Caldwell’s depth will give it a chance to compete with the top schools in Class 2A’s 1st Region…
The Caldwell track team is off this week for spring break.
Next up on the schedule is the Fast Times meet at Mayfield on Saturday, April 16.
