Coming off their first loss of the season over the weekend, a young Christian County Colonels’ team responded the way coaches and fans would like to see. The Colonels again got early run production, thanks in part to defensive issues for the opponent, and combined that with another solid pitching performance from Aiden Lewis as they rolled past the host Clarksville Northeast Eagles 10-2 in the Donnie Everitt Classic.
The Colonels hung up a three-spot in the top half of the first, combining three hits with a pair of Eagle errors. Josh Snorton had an RBI single while Carter Sholar drove in a pair with a double.
In the second, Gage Montes reached base with a single and then later scored on a Northeast error to increase the lead to 4-0.
The Eagles’ roughed up Lewis a bit in the bottom of the fourth, coming up with two runs to cut the lead in half. But Lewis took over from that point and gave his offense the opportunity to put the game away.

Jacob Jenkins and Hayden Hunt led off the 5th with singles and both would score later in the inning as the lead moved back out to 6-2. Gage Montes then reached base on an error and scored when Elijah Underhill driled a line drive through a very stout wind over the left field fence to make it 8-2.
The Colonels added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh thanks to a Josh Snorton RBI single and a Northeast error.
Northeast was its own worst enemy in the field, as the Eagles were charged with nine errors in the game.
Josh Snorton finished the game 2-3 with two RBIs, a run scored, and two walks. Carter Sholar was 1-3 with two RBIs. Elijah Underhill was 1-5 with a home run, two RBIs, and three runs scored.
Aiden Lewis went all seven innings for the Colonels. He gave up two runs on just four hits, striking out two while walking four.
Christian County moves to 13-1 on the season. They head back to Clarksville Friday to take on Davidson Academy at Clarksville Northeast.
