Former Caldwell County standout Cody Holub slammed a home run to help Kentucky Christian University rout Grace Christian twice on Friday.
Holub had a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning in the first game of a doubleheader as Kentucky Christian rolled 17-2. The Knights then won game two 17-3 to improve to 20-19 on the season.
Holub went 2-for-3 and scored three times in the opener.
He had just one plate appearance in the second game, drawing a walk and scoring a run before the Knights went to the bench.
Holub started both games at third base.
Holub, a freshman, now has his batting average up to .408 this season. He has 14 doubles, four home runs and has driven in 22. Holub also has eight stolen bases and has scored 40 runs in 39 games.
Kentucky Christian is an NAIA school in Grayson in far eastern Kentucky. The Knights play baseball in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
As a junior at Caldwell County in 2019, Holub hit .339 and drove in 33 runs for a team that went 18-16 and reached the 2nd Region championship game. However, in his senior season of 2020, Caldwell got in just one scrimmage before the rest of the season was wiped out by COVID-19.
Holub and the Knights have two more games scheduled against Grace Christian again on Saturday.
