The Central Kentucky Go Tell Crusade in Harrodsburg wants to bring people together to learn about God’s love and grace whether they have never known the Lord or maybe have just drifted away from their faith.

The event at Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg Athletic Complex (772 University Drive) starts Sunday and will continue nightly through Wednesday. Over 40 churches have combined financial and volunteer resources to make the crusade a reality.

The crusade will feature a nightly evangelist along with Christian music acts and speakers such as ESPN college football analyst David Pollack. However, the big name coming to Harrodsburg is Kentucky junior Oscar Tshiebwe, the consensus national player of the year.

Tshiebwe will give his testimony at Sunday’s non-denominational service that begins at 7 p.m. He was originally scheduled to speak Monday but due to a new scheduling conflict he will now share his message Sunday night.

Pastor Greg Warren of the Carpenter’s Christian Church said the crusade had a contact who knew Tshiebwe and decided to take a “shot” at getting him to come to Harrodsburg.

“We were kind of pleasantly surprised even though we knew he had spoken at other places,” Warren said. “I think Oscar is looking to do more things like this. He wants opportunities to share and speak. I just feel like that is what he’s trying to do to share his faith.

“We know some people might just come to hear Oscar because of who he  is. That’s fine but he also has a great message and that will let them hear God’s word.”

Warren says CU-Harrodsburg says it can seat close to 1,000 in the school gymnasium. However, Warren says that might not be enough seating.

“This thing has really blown up,” Warren said. “I worry we are going to exceed capacity, which is a wonderful thing. “I anticipate there might be some who come and cannot get inside the gym. We are looking at some alternative sites we can use where folks can at least still see and hear the message online in some fashion.”

Parking could also be an issue because of recent rains. Warren said there might be off-campus locations used and shuttle buses available to take visitors to the crusade. Anyone attending can check the crusade’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/gotellcky) for logistical and other information.

There is no admission charge but there will be a love offering for the Go Tell Crusade each night.

  1. As a firm believer in God’s amazing grace through saving faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, it is so good to see a famous young man like Oscar share his faith in God at a venue like this crusade. To God be the glory.
