UHA Blazers Power Past Russellville 12-2

The University Heights Academy Blazers got their offense rolling in their final tuneup before the start of the 2nd Region All A baseball tournament Monday. The Blazers scored in every inning as they rolled past Russellville 12-2 in five innings Saturday afternoon.

The Blazers did most of their damage in the bottom of the third when they scored five runs and then closed out the game with four more runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Ben Stone gave the Blazers the early lead with an RBI single in the bottom of the first.

Russellville used a single and two Blazer miscues to score a pair of runs in the top of the second and take their only lead of the day at 2-1.

An RBI double from Eston Glover in the bottom of the inning evened things up at 2-2. Then, in the bottom of the third, the Blazers took firm control of the game. After a Russellville error opened the inning, one of six errors the Panthers had in the game, Ian Tyler drove in a run with a double.

With the bases loaded later in the inning, John Dearmond drove in a pair with a single. After a walk to his brother Nic, Ryan Luckey connected on a single that drove in two more runs, as the lead moved out to 7-2.

Jackson Flynn drove in a run in the fourth with an RBI double that extended the lead to 8-2.

UHA would then finish the game with a four-run rally in the bottom of the 5th, all of the runs coming after there were two outs. Ben Stone started it off with an RBI single. Ian Tyler would score on a Panther error to make it 10-2.

Then, with the bases loaded, Eston Glover sent the Blazer fans home happy, scorching a line drive to left field to drive in Ben Stone and Jackson Flynn.

Ben Stone had a huge day for the Blazers, going 3-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Eston Glover was 2-3, with a double, 3 RBIs, and a run scored. Ian Tyler ended up 2-4 with a double, an RBI, and 3 runs scored.

On the mound, Jaiden Miles went all five innings, giving up two runs, just one of them earned, on three hits, striking out seven while walking three.

The Blazers improve to 6-6 on the season. They will host Livingston Central Monday evening in the quarterfinals of the 2nd Region All A Classic baseball tournament.
