After a 2nd Region championship, a run to the quarterfinals of the Boys Sweet 16 in 2022, and a solid performance in the 2021 event, it should come as no surprise that the Lyon County Lyons will be returning to one of the state’s premier in-season basketball events this December.
Officials tell YourSportsEdge.Com that the Lyon County Lyons will be returning to the King of the Bluegrass, hosted by Fairdale High School, this coming season.
The Lyons finished the 2021-2022 season with a 29-7 record, falling to Covington Catholic 59-57 in the quarterfinals of the Sweet 16 at Rupp Arena.
Lyon County played three games in the 2021 King of the Bluegrass. The Lyons led Ashland by double figures before falling 87-81. Lyon County rebounded with a 92-79 win over Belfry. The Lyons were then knocked out of the even by Louisville Trinity 77-73, a game in which the Lyons led by double figures.
The Lyons graduate six seniors from this year’s team but return a talented core of players that saw significant time on the court.
That core is led by junior-to-be Travis Perry, who is on pace to become the state’s all-time leading scorer in his senior season. Perry averaged 27.5 points a game for his sophomore season.
Other key players from the 2021-2022 team set to return include junior-to-be Jack Reddick (10.5 ppg) and junior-to-be Brady Shoulders (8.9 ppg).

Great to see a kid out in the far reaches of the state getting exposure. I imagine Murray and WKU have been all over him for a while.
