Neither a muddy field nor hosts Fort Campbell caused any problems for the Lyon County softball team in Tuesday’s 2nd Region All-A opener, with the Lady Lyons cruising to a 19-0 victory over the Lady Falcons.
Lyon County’s Calista Collins tripled on the first pitch of the game to jumpstart a six-run 1st inning and give Lady Lyon pitcher Emma West all the run support she would need.
West pitched all four innings, not allowing a hit until the Lady Falcons’ final at-bat while striking out six with a walk.
Courtney Collins and Jenna Coursey both singled in runs in a three-run 2nd, and Lilly Perry chipped in an RBI single in the 3rd for an 11-0 Lady Lyon lead.
Lyon County tacked on eight more runs in the top of the 4th for the final margin. Perry and Lauren Davis each drove in runs on singles, and an error, two walks, and a hit by pitch provided the rest.
The Lady Lyons pick up their second win in three tries to improve to 4-6. Perry and Ryan Graham were both 3/3 at the plate, Davis drove in three runs, and Coursey had two RBI.
Kiley McCrary and Carrie McCrary each pitched two innings for the Lady Falcons. Kiley allowed nine runs, four earned, on five hits with four strikeouts. Carrie surrendered ten runs, four earned, on six hits with three walks and a strikeout.
The Lady Falcons slip to 1-6 and will head to Morton’s Gap on Thursday to face Hopkins County Central.
