
The UHA Lady Blazers are on to the semifinal round of the 2nd Region All A Classic softball tournament. The Lady Blazers took advantage of 18 “freebies” from Dawson Springs pitching as they rolled past the Lady Panthers 17-2 in a four-inning contest and on to Saturday morning’s semifinal round against Caldwell County.
The Lady Blazers were the beneficiaries of 11 hit batters and 7 walks as they scored in each of the four innings.
UHA scored two runs in the first, five runs in the second, eight in the third, and scored two to end the game due to the 15-run rule in the bottom of the fourth.
The big inning for the Lady Blazers’ bats came in the bottom of the third when they strung together hits from Jaila Batey, Trinity Luke, Sloan Hampton, and Mia Litchfield.
The Lady Blazers scored their 17 runs on six hits. Krista Keller finished 2-3 with a double, a triple, and two runs scored. Jaila Batey was 1-2 with a double, three RBIs, and a run scored. Sloan Hampton ended up 1-1 with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored.
Dawson Springs’ hits came from Madelyn Huddleston, Macy Drennan, and Brylee Spurlin.
In the circle, Regan Pollard limited Dawson Springs to just two runs on three hits. The Lady Panthers scored one run in the third and one in the fourth. Pollard went all four innings, striking out seven in picking up the win.
UHA improves to 2-3 with the win, while Dawson Springs drops to 0-6 on the year.
