Hopkinsville Blanks HCA 6-0 in First Meeting

Less than 24 hours after they both had tough losses on Friday night, the Hopkinsville Tigers and the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors met for the first time. In a game that was played at Hopkinsville, but was a home game for the Warriors, Hopkinsville got big pitching performances from Zach Moss and Landon Cook as they rolled past the Warriors 6-0.

Moss and Cook combined to limit the Warriors to just three hits in the game. Moss pitched five innings, giving up all three this, striking out eleven while walking none. Cook took to the mound in the sixth inning, giving up no hits, striking out two while walking none.

The Tigers were held to just five hits of their own but took advantage of six hit batters and four walks from HCA hurlers Weston Powell and Walker Ashby.

Hopkinsville got on the board in the top of the 3rd inning when Joseph Boor drove in two runs with a two-out bases-loaded single to put the Tigers up 2-0.

The Tigers added a run in the top of the 4th when Lucas Kaetzel was hit by a pitch, stole second, was sacrificed to third, and then scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 3-0.

Hoptown would then put the game away with three more runs in the top of the sixth. Preston Chaudoin drove in a run with an RBI single. The Tigers would score two more runs on a dropped fly ball, moving the lead out to 6-0.

For Hopkinsville, Kaden West was 3-4 with a run scored. Joseph Boor ended up 1-4 with 2 RBIs. Preston Chaudoin was 1-2 with an RBI and a run scored.

J.J. Thompson, Weston Powell, and Grant Floyd had one hit each for the Warriors.
