Several weeks ago when we had Kentucky volleyball coach Craig Skinner on WLAP Sunday Morning Sports Talk he indicated UK “would have a transfer or two coming in” for next season.
Friday it was announced that outside hitter Adanna Rollins was transferring from Penn State to UK. She played three years at Minnesota before playing last season at Penn State where she averaged 2.45 kills and 2.90 points per set. Rollins started all 32 games at Penn State in 2021 and racked up 287 kills, 267 digs, 57 total blocks and 16 service aces.
“She has played at the highest levels in our sport from the time she was 13, and will make an impact right away for us. She has been a part of championship teams in club and college and knows what is required for success,” said Skinner.
“She’s an excellent athlete and a five-tool player who can execute all the skills on the court. We are looking forward to taking her game to the next level to help us compete for championships this fall.”
Rollins, who started 77 of 79 matches in her three seasons at Minnesota, posted on social media that she felt it “would be best for me to take my last year elsewhere” and play at Kentucky, the 2020 national champion.
“To me, this is my biggest commitment since it’s the final chapter of my college volleyball career. It’s my final opportunity to write my last college volleyball narrative and take this one last ride,” Rollins said.
Rollins was the Texas High School Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year and top three finalist for National Volleyball Player of the Year her senior season. She was an Under Armour first-team All-American and competed in the All-America match at the NCAA Volleyball championships in 2017.
