
The Lyon County Lady Lyons posted a 13-run 2nd inning and breezed past University Heights and into the 2nd Region All-A title game with a 19-1 victory on Saturday at Smithland.
The Lady Lyons win their third game in four tries to improve to 5-6 overall and face Caldwell County in the All-A region title game on Monday.
An RBI single by Emma West highlighted a three-run 1st before the Lady Lyons put the game away in their second at-bat. Calista Collins, Lilly Perry, and Jenna Coursey drove in runs, and four Lady Blazer errors contributed to a 13-run 2nd inning.
Lauren Davis, Olivia Moore, and Courtney Schenk each singled to drive in runs in the top of the 3rd, and starting pitcher Lilly Perry allowed a hit and a run in the bottom of the frame to claim the win.
Mallory Ladd took the loss for UHA, yielding two earned runs on 12 hits with five walks and a pair of strikeouts. Regan Pollard had a hit and drove in the Lady Blazers’ lone run.
Davis had a pair of hits and three RBI for the Lady Lyons, Ryan Graham hit safely twice and drove in a run, and Coursey finished with two RBI.
University Heights slips to 2-4 with a trip to Dawson Springs coming up on Monday.
