New Kentucky offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello insists he’s going to use the tight ends more and obviously Ohio three-star tight end Tanner Lemaster believes him because he gave his verbal commitment to UK Friday.
The 6-6, 240-pound Lemaster had offers from Tennessee, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Indiana, Baylor, Kansas, Vanderbilt and more. 247Sports ranks him as the 28th best tight end in the 2023 recruiting class.
It’s no surprise that he was recruited by Vince Marrow — the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator who had endless connections in Ohio.
“First I would like to thank the Lord for blessing me,” Lemaster posted on social media. “Without him, none of this would be possible. I would like to thank my parents for everything they do for me inside and out of sports. I want to thank all of my teammates and coaches for pushing me to be my best every day.”
“Lastly, I would like to thank Coach Marrow, Coach Stoops, and the rest of Big Blue Nation for the love and support. With this being said, I’m proud to announce my commitment to the University of Kentucky.”
He got his Kentucky offer just over a year ago and took an unofficial visit to Lexington last summer. He also made summer visits to Ohio State, Notre Dame, Cincinnati and Indiana.
Kentucky added tight end Josh Kattus of Cincinnati in its 2022 recruiting class.
Lemaster joins running back Kaden Moorman, offensive lineman Malachi Wood, athlete Ty Bryant and receiver Shamar Porter in Kentucky’s 2023 recruiting class.
