Todd County Central got off to a big first inning and then scored in every at-bat from that point on as the Rebels rolled to an 11-3 win over University Heights Academy in the Kelly Russell Classic in Russellville. The Blazers were supposed to play in the rescheduled semifinals of the 2nd Region All A Classic Saturday, but Crittenden County and Dawson Springs were unable to finish their game Friday night due to storms that rolled through the area, allowing the Blazers to take part in the event which was a part of their original schedule at the beginning of the season.
The Blazers got on the board in the top of the first when Jaiden Miles was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Todd Central did not take long to respond to UHA’s early run. The Rebels used two walks, a hit batter, a Blazers error, and an RBI double from Tanner Farmer to take a 5-1 lead. Runs in the bottom of the second and the bottom of the third would push the lead out to 7-1.
An error and a Gavyn Nolan RBI single in the fourth extended the lead on out to 9-1.
UHA trimmed the lead to 9-3 in the top of the fifth. The big hit in the inning was an RBI double from Ben Stone.
Preston Rager would connect on an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth and the Rebels would take advantage of a UHA error to add a run in the bottom of the 6th to reach the final 11-3 score.
