After being among the state’s top scorers all season long, the postseason honors continue to come in for Lyon County’s Travis Perry. The Courier-Journal announced Monday morning that Perry had been named to its 2022 All-State Boys Basketball first team.
The team is voted on by coaches across the state. Ten players were named to the first team.
Perry finished third in the voting, behind only Reed Sheppard and Kaleb Glenn, both of whom are juniors. For what you can read into it at this point, the vote would seem, for now, to label Perry as the front-runner in the 2024 Mr. Basketball race.
Perry, who averaged 27.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5 assists per game, is one of two players from the western half of the state on the team. The other was Mr. Basketball Turner Buttry, from Bowling Green.
He was the only sophomore named to the first team.
Other players on the first team are:
Reed Sheppard – North Laurel
Kaleb Glenn – Male
Jerone Martin – George Rogers Clark
Evan Ipsaro – Covington Catholic
Gabe Sisk – Ballard
Maker Bar – Ballard
Colin Porter – Ashland Blazer
George Washington III – Christian Academy
