Haley Fowler hit a two-run triple and Gracie Arnemann launched a solo home run to lead the host Franklin-Simpson High School softball team to a 13-3 victory over Todd County Central.

After striking for six runs in the bottom of the first inning to put the Rebels in a quick hole, the Wildcats turned to two of its best hitters to put the game away. Fowler and Arnemann each drove in four runs in the five-inning, run-shortened affair. FSHS, winners of four straight games, hit for the cycle as a squad.

Todd Central, which has now lost three of its last four games overall, trailed 13-0 before attempting to rally in the top of the fifth in Franklin. Samantha Case socked a two-run, two-out double to center to put her team on the board. Two pitches later, Abigail McPherson followed with an RBI single that plated Case, but that’s all TCCHS (10-8) would muster on the road.

McPherson (5-6) surrendered six hits and seven runs (five earned) in the loss. Her counterpart — Hanna Arthur (8-6) — scattered three hits and walked a pair in four innings to pick up her eighth victory of 2022. The trio of Rebel runs came off Wildcats reliever Kaitlyn Woodall, who was making her first appearance in the circle this season.

Todd County Central had six hits in defeat. Case had a third of them, finishing 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs. She and Jocelyn Mock each recorded doubles. Abby Williams was 1-for-1 with a run and drew a team-high two walks.

The Rebels will play again April 21 in a rematch with Hopkinsville. Back on April 14, Todd Central defeated the Tigers 15-0 in three innings.
