Following in a parent’s footsteps can be a daunting task for a young student-athlete, particularly if the parent is a local sports legend who continued his football career at Harvard University and is now a pillar in the community.

However, Trigg County junior Ivey Redd seems to take it all in stride, competing in multiple sports for the Wildcats and excelling in the classroom and extracurricular endeavors.

Recently named to the Governor’s Scholar Program, Ivey maintains a 4.0 GPA and is a part of the Thoroughbred Academy.  As a freshman, he earned the Trigg County High School Integrated Science Award and took home the TCHS Pre-AP Chemistry and Physics Awards in 2021.  As a junior, Ivey finished in 4th place in the District Academic Team Social Studies Test.

Ivey has lettered in powerlifting, golf, and football, making 15 catches for 173 yards as a junior on the gridiron.  He was named 1st Team Academic All-State as a freshman and sophomore and was awarded the TCHS Football Academic Award in 2021 and 2022.

Ivey also stays busy away from the field as a member of the academic team, Youth Leadership, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  He also takes part in Voice of the Wildcats, Teen Court, and Interact, while serving as Student Council President.  Ivey is also a member of the National Honors Society and BETA and was the 2021 Kentucky DECA Vice President of Finance.

With the foundation for success laid through hard work on multiple fronts, Ivey has big plans for the future.  After high school, he hopes to attend the University of Kentucky and major in finance or pre-law.
