Lady Maroons Finish Strong in 11-4 Win Over Caldwell

Madisonville-North Hopkins put up seven runs over its final three at-bats to pull away for an 11-4 victory over Caldwell County in 7th District softball action on Thursday.

Caldwell County had tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the fourth inning on Harper Holeman’s three-run home run off the scoreboard with two outs.

But Madisonville (13-2 overall, 5-0 district) went back up 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth. The homestanding Lady Maroons added two more runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to put the contest away.

Madisonville, ranked 19th in the state in the coaches poll, pounded out 19 base hits in the contest.

Brenna Sherman was 3-for-5 and drove in three while Zoe Davis was 3-for-5 with an RBI.

Amber Osborne finished the day 3-for-4 with one run batted in and Mackenzie Stoltz was also 3-for-4. Chloe Young went 2-for-4 and homered for the Lady Maroons. Jaycee Noffsinger was 2-for-5 and knocked in three.

Stoltz was the winning pitcher. She struck out 10 while allowing four earned runs on nine base hits. She also walked five.

For Caldwell (8-6, 1-2), Holeman was 2-for-4 with the three runs batted in. Adley Lewis was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Brylee Butts also went 2-for-4.

Madisonville has taken 33 of the last 34 get-togethers with Caldwell. The Lady Maroons lead the all-time series 42-18.

Caldwell County returns home on Friday to take on 2nd Region favorite Henderson County (13-0). The Lady Colonels are ranked fourth in the state.

Madisonville goes to Union County on Friday.
