Rebel Rally Turns Back Montgomery Central 5-4 (w/PHOTOS)

Jase Paul Hampton walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 6th inning to force in the go-ahead run as the Todd County Central Rebels came from behind Saturday to get past Montgomery Central 5-4 in Elkton. The walk was the last of three straight following a two-run double from Tanner Farmer that had tied the game earlier in the inning after the Rebels entered the inning trailing 4-2.

Will Kearns then pitched the seventh inning to close out the win. Kearns gave up a couple of singles to open the top of the seventh, but then got a fly out and a double play ball to end the game.

The Rebels started the game off quickly. Jacob Brandon rocked a triple to right field to score Nate Reding as Todd Central took a 1-0 lead after one.

Montgomery Central roughed up Todd Central starter Jacob Brandon a bit in the top of the second. The Indians strung together a hit batter, two singles, a walk, and a double, to plate three runs in the top of the second inning and go up 3-1.

Todd Central cut into the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Grady Reding singled to center field scoring Gavyn Nolan. The Rebels nearly tied the game up on the play, but Jase Paul Hampton was thrown out at the plate to end the inning with the Indians still up 3-2.

Montgomery Central used a Rebel error to get that run back in the top of the 5th and push the lead back out to 4-2, setting the stage for the Todd Central rally in the bottom of the sixth.

Nate Reding led the attack for the Rebels at the plate, going 3-4. Tanner Farmer was 1-2 with a double and two RBIs. Jacob Brandon finished 1-2 with a triple and an RBI.

On the mound, Brandon settled in after that rocky second inning. Brandon went six innings, giving up four runs, three of them earned, on seven hits, striking out five while walking four.

Will Kearns pitched the final inning, giving up two hits, striking out none and walking none.
