Caldwell County’s Jabrion Spikes has been chosen for the prestigious Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Basketball Series in June.
Earlier this month, Spikes saw action in the Kentucky-Ohio All-Star Basketball Game, which was played at Thomas More University in Crestview Hills, near Cincinnati. He had 11 points in that contest as the Kentucky All-Stars won in overtime 85-84.
Kentucky and Indiana play a two-game series each summer. This year’s matchups will take place Friday, June 10, at the Owensboro Sportscenter and Saturday, June 11, at Southport High School in Indianapolis.
Tryouts were held this past weekend at Centre College in Danville. Mr. Basketball Turner Buttry of Bowling Green automatically qualified for the Kentucky team and will wear the No. 1 jersey.

Spikes earned the right to try out for the all-star squad after being named 2nd Region Player of the Year and a Mr. Basketball Finalist.
At Caldwell this past season, Spikes led the 2nd Region in both scoring and rebounding at 30.7 points and 11.9 boards a contest.
He set the Caldwell single-game scoring record twice during the season – the last in a 59-point outing Feb. 15 at Hopkinsville High School.
Spikes was selected Second Team All-State on both the Lexington Herald-Leader and Courier-Journal All-State Teams.
The senior is still undecided on a college home.
Spikes finished his high school basketball career at No. 6 on the Tigers’ all-time scoring list with 1,434 career points.
He is 10th on Caldwell’s career rebounding list with 537 career boards.
The girls’ all-star team was also announced on Tuesday . The only western Kentucky player chosen was Amaya Curry of Owensboro Apollo.
Kentucky has struggled in the boys’ series. Indiana leads 101-44 all-time and has taken 27 of the past 30 meetings.
Indiana’s girls lead that series 51-39. The states split last year’s matchups.
