Todd Central Rolls Past UHA Lady Blazers

The Todd County Central Lady Rebels rebounded from Tuesday night’s loss to Russellville with a big road win of their own Thursday. The Lady Rebels scored in every inning as they ran past University Heights Academy 15-2 in five innings.

In addition to clubbing out ten hits, the Lady Rebels got a big night in the circle from Jocelyn Mock. Mock pitched five innings, giving up two runs, neither of them earned, on just one hit, striking out seven while walking only one.

The game got off to an electrifying start for the Lady Rebels. 7th grader Naomi Gammon took the second pitch of the game and sent it across the left field fence to give Todd Central a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Blazers took a Todd Central error and a hit batter and scratched out a run to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first.

Todd Central turned two walks to lead off the second into a trio of runs and a 4-1 lead. A UHA error led to another run in the top of the third, giving the Lady Rebels a 5-1 lead.

The game got away from the Lady Blazers in the top of the fourth. Three UHA errors, three walks, and a hit batter helped ignite an eight-run rally for the Lady Rebels. The big Todd Central hit in the inning was a two-run homer from Jocelyn Mock.

Madelyn Slaughter led the way for Todd Central, going 3-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Naomi Gammon was 2-5 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored. Abby Williams, Naomi Gammon, Abigail McPherson, and Jocelyn Mock all had two RBIs each for the Lady Rebels.

Jaila Batey had the only hit in the game for the Lady Blazers.

Todd County Central improves to 12-9 with the win. The Lady Rebels host Logan County Friday night.

UHA falls to 3-5 with the loss. The Lady Blazers travel to take on Crittenden County Monday.
