
It turned out to be a night of “from one end to the other” Friday night for the Christian County Lady Colonels. The Lady Colonels began the night taking one in the grill from the South Warren Lady Spartans 12-2. The night finished with Christian County returning the favor 13-1 to the Bowling Green Lady Purples.
In the opener, after Christian County took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the third, the Lady Spartans scored 12 unanswered runs over their next four at-bats to claim the six-inning win.
The Lady Colonels took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Karlee Crick hit her second home run in as many nights, this one with Avery Adcock on board.
South Warren strung together four straight hits followed by a Christian County error to take a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the third. The Lady Spartans inched the lead out to 6-2 with a win in the fourth and another in the fifth. The bottom fell out in the bottom of the sixth as South Warren scored six runs on seven hits and two Lady Colonel errors.
Kaleigh Shaw was 2-3 for the Lady Colonels. Karlee Crick was 1-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Gracie Harned started the game in the circle and was tagged with the loss.
The second game saw Christian County settle the issue early. The Lady Colonels scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning on their way to a 13-1 win over Bowling Green.
The bats got going quickly for the Lady Colonels as they ripped off six hits in the first inning. The big ones were a bases-loaded three-run double from LaiLai McGregor and a three-run homer from Pickle Winkler, her second in as many days.
Christian County added a run on an error in the second. The Lady Colonels then put things to bed with a four-run inning in the fourth. LaiLai McGregor had the big hit in the inning with a solo home run.
McGregor finished the game 2-2 with four RBIs. Karlee Crick was 2-3 with an RBI. Avery Adcock finished 2-2 with three runs scored.
Less than 24 hours after having her pitching hand injured on a play at third base, Riley Hancock went the distance for Christian County, pitching five innings, giving up one earned run on just two hits, striking out three while walking only one.
With the split, Christian County is now 17-7 and is set to host Logan County Saturday morning.
