Northwest High School junior Tyler Phillips was one issued walk away from a three-inning perfect game Friday in Clarksville. Instead, he settled for a no-hitter and led the Viking baseball team to a 15-0 win over Fort Campbell.

Phillips needed just 39 pitches to earn the run-shortened win, striking out six Falcons in the process. Angel Garcia was the lone FCHS base runner in the loss. He drew a one-out walk in the top of the first inning, but was thrown out at second base during an attempted steal during a strike-them-out, throw-them-out play to end the frame.

The Vikings had six batters draw walks during the first eight who stepped to the plate, and went up 4-0 when Nathaniel McEwen-Geise delivered a two-run single to center field. Four pitches later, leadoff hitter Garrett Roberts cleared the bases with a three-run, inside-the-park home run to put NHS ahead with a commanding 9-0 lead.

Anthony Harris hit an RBI triple to make it 11-0. Then, after three straight walks, Ethan Austin ended the game via mercy rule with an RBI single to left. Northwest finished with seven hits. Ethan Egner (1-5) took the loss for Fort Campbell, giving up 12 walks and 13 earned runs in two innings on the mound.

The Falcons (3-20) will try to end a seven-game slide when they play another road game against a Clarksville, Tennessee team (Kenwood) on Saturday.
