The Christian County Colonels jumped out to an early advantage and held off Henderson County 3-2 before overcoming a flat start and taking advantage of Marshall County miscues in a 7-6 come-from-behind victory on Saturday.

Christian County wins its eighth straight to improve to 22-3 and will travel to Henderson County on Wednesday.

In the opener, Jacob Jenkins’ 1st-inning single brought in three runs, and Elijah Underhill made it stand up with seven strong innings on the mound.

Christian County only collected two hits, but Underhill was lights out, yielding only three hits and a single earned run with three walks and ten strikeouts.

Brennan Cates was the hard-luck loser for Henderson, holding Christian County to a pair of hits with four walks and six strikeouts over six innings.

Carter Sholar and the Colonels got off to a rocky start in the second game, trailing 4-0 after two innings against Marshall County.  Sholar gave way to Lane Gamble after four earned runs on five hits with five walks and three strikeouts.

The Colonels pushed runs across in the 4th on an error, a hit-by-pitch, and a walk to climb back into the game, but Marshall County took a  5-3 lead on Gavin Clark’s sacrifice fly to center in the top of the 5th.

In the bottom of the 6th, Robert Irving’s bunt single brought in a run, and the Colonels took the lead at 6-5 on a pair of Marshall County errors.

A single brought the winning run to the plate in the top of the 7th for the Marshals, but the Colonels turned two, and Gamble capped five innings of work on the mound with a fly-out to center to pick up the win.
