Lady Rebels Roll to a Pair of Shutout Victories

The Todd County Central softball team got a pair of dominant pitching performances and put up a total of 22 runs in wins over Warren Central and Clinton County on Saturday.

The Lady Rebels opened with a 12-0 victory over Warren Central, posting four runs in the opening frame on an RBI double by Abigail McPherson and run-scoring singles by Naomi Gammon and Brooklyn Alder.

Five runs followed in the 2nd, highlighted by Gammon’s RBI triple, and Todd Central led 9-0.

Jocelyn Mock had all the run support she needed, cruising through five innings in the circle and allowing a single hit with five strikeouts.

McPherson added a two-run double in the 3rd to finish with a pair of hits and three RBI.  Gammon and Naomi Welborn each had two hits and drove in a pair of runs.

Edith Burns took the loss in the circle for Warren Central, allowing 12 runs, nine earned, on 11 hits with six walks and five strikeouts.

The second game followed a similar script, with the Lady Rebels scoring early and often in a 10-0 victory over Clinton County.

Mock got Todd Central on the board with a two-run double in the bottom of the 1st, and the Lady Rebels added four more in the 2nd on an RBI triple for Abby Williams and McPherson’s two-run home run.

The final three runs crossed in the bottom of the 4th.  McPherson capped a 3/3, three-RBI performance with a run-scoring single, and Gammon drove in a pair with a single.

McPherson was stellar in the circle as well, surrendering only two hits over five frames with eight strikeouts.

Mock finished 2/3 with a pair of RBI and Gammon drove in two runs.

Breanna Hurst took the defeat for Clinton County, allowing 10 runs, six earned, on 10 hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

The Lady Rebels improved to 14-10 and will travel to Russellville on Tuesday for a 13th-District matchup with Logan County.
