After dropping a tough ten-inning contest at Logan County Tuesday night, the Todd County Central Rebels were hoping to return the favor Wednesday night. Alas, the best-laid plans sometimes go astray. The Cougars ripped open a close game with a five-run outburst in the top of the sixth and went on to take a 7-3 win over the Rebels.

Logan County was leading 2-0 going into the top of the sixth. A double and two-hit batters loaded the bases with nobody out. Kade Wall singled to drive in the first run of the inning. One out later, Jack Delaney walked with the bases loaded to make it 4-0.

A Todd Central error allowed two more runs to score. Wyatt Blake then capped of the big inning with an RBI single to push the lead out to 7-0.

The Rebels came back with a mini-rally in the bottom half of the inning. Jase Paul Hampton came up with a two-out single to drive in the Rebels’ first two runs of the game. Zack Robinson added an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-3, but that would be the end of the comeback attempt for the night.

Jase Paul Hampton was 1-2 at the plate with 2 RBIs. Zack Robinson ended up 1-3 with an RBI. Jacob Brandon, Gavyn Nolan, and Grady Reding added hits for the Rebels.

On the mound, Jase Paul Hampton was tagged with the loss. He went 5 1/3 innings, giving up seven runs, only five of them earned, striking out eight while walking three.

With the loss, the Rebels fall to 17-9 on the year. They are scheduled to host Heritage Christian on Friday.
