Runs were in short supply for the Christian County Colonels on Saturday in a pair of losses to Paducah Tilghman and Calloway County.

The Colonels fell behind early in the opener against hosts Paducah Tilghman, with Levin East tossing four shutout innings with eight strikeouts for the Blue Tornado.

Tilghman jumped in front with a pair of runs in the 3rd, including an RBI single by Gage Griggs.  The Blue Tornado added the final run on Braden Douglas’ RBI single in the bottom of the 6th.

Gage Montes was the hard-luck loser on the mound for the Colonels, allowing two earned runs on nine hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Douglas was 2/3 with an RBI, and John Kiebler had a pair of hits for Paducah Tilghman.

In the matchup with Calloway County, the Colonels led 1-0 in the top of the 3rd before an RBI single for Gage Bazzell and three run-scoring doubles handed the Lakers a seven-run advantage.

Robert Irving and Montes both singled in runs in a three-run Colonel 3rd, but Calloway scored a run on a Christian County error for a 9-4 score in the 4th.

Elijah Underhill drove in a run with a single in the bottom of the 5th for the last of the Colonel offense.  Cadwell Turner and Bazzell each singled in runs for Calloway in the 6th, and two more crossed the plate in the top of the 7th for the final score.

Carter Sholar took the loss on the mound for the Colonels, allowing eight runs, five earned, on nine hits with two walks and a pair of strikeouts.

Sholar and Montes were both 2/3 at the plate, and Underhill and Hayden Hunt each collected a pair of hits.

Christian County drops its third straight to stand at 23-6 and will close out the regular season with a visit from Logan County on Monday and a trip to Madisonville-North Hopkins on Thursday.
