PHOTOS – Lyon County Basketball Awards (Gallery I)

Lyon County High School honored its top boys’ and girls’ basketball players and cheerleaders from this past season during the school’s annual awards banquet on Sunday in Jason White Gymnasium.

Guest speaker for the event was Harry Todd, who was co-Mr. Basketball winner in 1958 while playing for Earlington High School in Hopkins County.

It was a season in which both Lyon basketball teams won All A Classic regional championships and competed at the state tournaments in Richmond while Lyon’s guys also won the year-end 2nd Region championship for the first time since 1951. The Lyons won their first game at the Sweet 16 at Rupp Arena in Lexington before falling in the second round.

Award winners for the Lyons included Travis Perry, Most Valuable Player, Leading Scorer, 3-Point Award, Free Throw Award; Jackson Shoulders, Career Achievement Award (only player in Lyon history with more than 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds), Leading Rebounder, Best Field Goal Percentage; Jack Reddick, Most Assists, Team First Award; Brady Shoulders, Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player; Gunnar Bingham, Coaches Award; Nick Whalin, Tiffany Shemwell Clayton Perseverance Award, Lyon Award (Charge Award); Luke Gilbert, Eddie Dycus 110% Award; Warren Parker, Teammate Award; and Bray Kirk, Junior Varsity Award.

Perry was also presented the Kentucky New Era 2nd Region Player of the Year Award.

Jackson Shoulders was also presented the Mr. Lyon County Basketball Award by WCCK Radio.

Top Lady Lyons recognized included Lilly Perry, Most Valuable Player, 3-Point Percentage Award, Free Throw Percentage Award, Assist Leader; Rose Smith, Leading Scorer, Best Field Goal Percentage; Calista Collins, Leading Rebounder; Hadlie Butler, Eddie Dycus 110% Award; Gracen Wynn, Coaches Award, Tiffany Shemwell Clayton Perseverance Award; and Piper Cotham, JV Teammate Award.

Collins was also presented the Miss Lyon County Basketball Award by WCCK Radio.

Cheerleaders honored were Anna Yanez, Most Valuable Cheerleader; Caroline Cook, Leadership Award; Jaiden Capello, Lara Adams Award; Zoe Board, Most Loved By Team; Lauren Sanford, Dedication Award; Cadence Peralta, Best Attitude; Rylee Purdy, Most Effort Award; Ryan Tucker, Most Effort Award; Avery Tucker, Highest Energy; Rylee Travis, Biggest Smile; Kamryn Schoonover, Loudest Cheerleader; Isabella Fields, Outstanding Tumbler; Caitlyn Hooks, Outstanding Dancer; Kaleigh Haulk, Outstanding Jumps; LaneyKate Dalbey, Outstanding Flyer; Ashanti Holland, Outstanding Base; and Sarah Herring, Outstanding Back Spot.
