Dontaie Allen pulling for another Kentucky-Western Kentucky game

Former Kentucky basketball player Dontaie Allen certainly had some fun on Twitter Sunday.

“So can we run the WKU UK matchup back?” Allen posted on Twitter Sunday morning.

Allen, a Kentucky Mr. Basketball from Pendleton County, transferred to Western Kentucky after the 2021-22 season ended. He was at UK three years, including a redshirt season, but played only sparingly the last two months of the season.

That brought this response from Brian Johnson and answer by Allen.

Johnson: “So you can choke against us instead of for us? I’m down.”

Allen: “I advise you watch games a little more closely Brian.”

Another Twitter post said Western Kentucky would have no chance against Kentucky with the recruiting class John Calipari is adding. Allen’s response: “We both know that just isn’t true.”

Finally another UK fan posted, “Dontaie you gotta stop his madness.”

Allen’s response: “Just another Sunday stirring the pot.”

Stirring the pot indeed but also just having a little fun that I think he is entitled to.

Do I think Kentucky will play Western Kentucky again next season? No I don’t, even though a UK-Western Kentucky game certainly would bring a lot more fans to Rupp Arena in November or December than I think some of the games that will eventually be on UK’s schedule will.

However, no way will John Calipari or Kentucky want any part of playing Western Kentucky and Dontaie Allen next season.

  1. Cal would never want to give Allen a chance against him; especially, when he had the shortest rope when he had him.

  2. I wish we would play Western and Murray St. on a regular basis with Louisville. If you are not the best team in your state, then you don’t need to be crowing about being the gold standard of anything.

  3. Calipari blew it with Dontaie. Putting Dontaie on the court with the requirement that, “If u miss 1 shot, you’re out”…..who can operate under those conditions??? Very surprised the UK fan base & UK press is putting up with Calipari. Anyone who believes players like Boston Jr (who were given a loooong rope) could have averaged 42 ppg vs box &1’s every night in high school are kidding themselves. If a kid isn’t from Chicago or Philly or LA, they can’t possibly be a play….according to Cal. Where oh where are the REAL Kentucky fans???
