The Christian County Lady Colonels opened the final week of the regular season by picking up their 22nd win of 2022. The Lady Colonels took a 5-0 lead and then rode it on out to a 5-2 home-field win over Calloway County Monday evening.

Pickle Winkler led off the bottom of the first with a walk, stole second, and then scored all the way from second on a sacrifice bunt by Riley Hancock. After a hit batter, a double from Winkler, and a walk loaded the bases in the third, the Lady Colonels scored two more runs on a fielder’s choice and a Calloway County error to make it 3-0.

The lead reached 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run single by LaiLai McGregor.

Calloway County would plate a couple of runs in the top of the sixth but that would be as close as the Lady Lakers would get.

Pickle Winkler ended the game 2-3 with a double and two runs scored. LaiLai McGregor was also 2-3 and she added two RBIs for the Lady Colonels.

In the circle, Gracie Harned picked up the win, going all seven innings, giving up two runs, one of them earned, on four hits, striking out four while walking two.

Christian County improves to 22-9 with the win. They return to action Tuesday night when they host Union County on Senior Night.
