After dropping a tough extra-inning decision to Calloway County Thursday night at home, the Hopkinsville Tigers made sure that it would not come down to the wire again Saturday afternoon. Hopkinsville jumped out to an 11-1 lead and cruised on out to a 12-3 win over the Lakers on their home field.

Hopkinsville scored their 12 runs on just six hits, thanks in great part to 9 walks and four hit batters. Calloway County was also charged with two errors in the game.

The start of the game did not give a promising indication for the Lakers. Calloway County starter Karsen Starks walked the first four batters he faced. The Tigers would rough up Starks for four runs before he was pulled without having gotten an out in the inning. The Tigers would score all five of their first-inning runs without the benefit of a hit.

A sac fly from Joseph Boor in the second extended the lead to 6-0. After the Lakers got a run in the bottom of the second, the Tigers effectively ended the game with five runs in the top of the third. The big hit was a two-run single from Preston Chaudoin.

The Tigers got a big day on the mound from a pitching committee. Andrew Mayes, Tim Cansler, Mason Spain, and Thomas Hallmark combined to give up three runs, two of them earned, on just four hits, striking out four while walking six.

Preston Chaudoin was 2-4 at the plate with 3 RBIs and three runs scored. Zach Moss was 2-3 with a run scored. Tim Cansler also ended up 2-3 with a run scored for the Tigers.

Hopkinsville wraps up the regular season at 12-14. They will take on UHA Monday night in the semifinals of the 8th District tournament.
