The Todd County Central Rebels decided they wanted to have a short workday on their final day of the 2022 regular season. The Rebels scored in each of their three at-bats en route to dispatching Caverna 16-1 Saturday afternoon in Elkton.
Caverna actually took the lead in the top of the first. The Colonels scored on a sac fly after a Rebel error to start the game, giving them a 1-0 lead. That was the last time the Colonels saw the Rebels in their rearview mirror.
Todd Central rebounded by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first, all of them scored before Caverna was able to get an out.
With the lead at 7-1, Todd Central added a run in the bottom of the second on a wild pitch to extend the lead. The Rebels then ended the game with another huge inning in the third, this one an 8-run inning, as Todd Central took the 16-1 win.
Nate Reding, Tanner Farmer, Jacob Brandon, Gavyn Nolan, and Zack Robinson, all had big days for the Rebels.
Robinson got the start on the mound and pitched all three innings, giving up one unearned run on one hit, striking out four, and walking none.
The Rebels finish the regular season at 22-10. They are in action Monday night when they take on Logan County in the semifinals of the 13th District tournament.
