Caldwell County gets another shot at Madisonville-North Hopkins in the championship game of the 7th District baseball tournament.
On Monday, the Tigers rolled past Dawson Springs 15-0 in three innings at Elmer Kelley Stadium at the Madisonville City Park in semifinal action.
Logan Smiley (4-0) allowed just three hits and struck out six in three innings on the mound.
Smiley, Brady Holeman, Jamus Carneyhan and Cole Slone each had two base hits for the Tigers, who are now 14-8.
Caldwell scored six times in the bottom of the first inning, then added eight more in the second. One more run in the third ended the game early on the 15-run mercy rule.
The Tigers will play Madisonville for the championship today at 6:00 in Madisonville.
The Maroons defeated Hopkins County Central 12-2 in Monday’s first semifinal.
Madisonville took both regular-season meetings with the Tigers.
However, Caldwell won last year’s district championship as a No. 2 seed, upending Madisonville 5-0 in the title tilt.
The Tigers have won eight of the last nine 7th District championships. The Maroons won the tourney in 2019. The season was wiped out by COVID-19 in 2020.
