University Heights Academy finished in third place Saturday at the Class 1A Region 1 track and field meet at Murray High School.

Senior Piper Hancock claimed the only individual title by winning the 400-meter run and was part of UHA’s team win in the 1600-meter relay.

Eighth-grader Emma Dill also qualified for the state meet with a second-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles.

Several other athletes must play the waiting game and see if their times and distances outside the region’s top two will be good enough to qualify for state.

As a team, UHA totaled 65 points to finish behind region champ Murray (175) and runner-up Fort Campbell (143).
