Caldwell County junior right-hander Ben Goodaker kept the Tigers in the game when the offense was slow to get going early.
But Goodaker was grateful to see the Caldwell bats erupt for nine runs in the fourth inning to give him some cushion.
That was more than enough run support, as Goodaker allowed just one unearned run on three base hits in six innings of work in Caldwell’s 9-1 win over Union County on Sunday in the first round of the 2nd Region baseball tournament.
