It’s been a rough few weeks for Abby Moss.
The Hopkinsville High School senior finished as region singles runner-up two weeks ago despite playing with a bout of strep throat.
The illness and symptoms have continued, causing her to lose over 12 pounds since the region tourney began.
Admittedly not feeling her best, Moss dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Paducah Tilghman’s Abby Brown Tuesday in the first round of the KHSAA State Tennis Tournament presented by UK Healthcare in Nicholasville.
Moss won the first game of the match before the sun and heat took their toll on the outdoor courts at the Top Seed Tennis Center.
For Moss, her trip to the state tournament comes just four years after taking up the sport. After taking some time to decide, Moss will consider whether tennis will be in her future at college.
