Caldwell County’s doubles tandem of senior Billy Wallace and junior Grayden Miller knew they had a difficult draw in the first round of the 2022 KHSAA Tennis State Championships presented by UK HealthCare.
Facing the No. 2-seeded team of Sahil Krishnani and Alex Englund from Louisville Manual, the Caldwell duo did manage to take one game in the opening set, but ultimately fell 6-1, 6-0 Tuesday at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
Wallace and Miller were 2nd Region doubles champions, helping Caldwell win the regional team title.
Krishnani and Englund were runners-up in the 7th Region. The team that beat them in the regional final — Tyler Bush and Tommy Scanlan of St. Xavier — is the No. 1 seed at state.
