The opening day of the Kentucky Girls Junior PGA championship saw a familiar Western Kentucky face at the top of the leaderboard. Lyon County’s Cathryn Brown’s opening round 70 was good enough to tie her for the lead after the opening day of the two-day event in the girls’ 16-18 division.
Brown shot a 36 on the front nine and then closed out her round with a 34 on the backside.
Tied with Brown for the lead after the opening round is Isabella Christy, of Paintsville.
Madisonville’s Karra Tucker was tied for 17th after an opening round of 78.
Marshall County’s Savannah Howell was one shot further back at 79, putting her tied for 18th place.
The tournament is being played at the University Club at Arlington. The final round is taking place Wednesday.
