Do not forget about the speed Brandon White is also bringing to UK football

Upgrading speed at the receiver position has been a priority for Kentucky recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow — and he has done it with the 2022 recruiting class. Four-star receiver Barion Brown of Nashville recently won the 100-meter dash in 10.83 seconds, 200 in 21.70 seconds, and 400 in 49.32 seconds at the Tennessee Class A state track meet and also anchored the winning 800 relay team.

Mississippi receiver Jordan Anthony is the nation’s fastest high school sprinter. He won two titles at the Nike Indoor Championship when he ran the 60-meter dash in 6.69 seconds and 200 in 20.64 — the third-fastest time by a high school runner in U.S. history. He won the 100-meter outdoor national championship in 2021 with a 10.21 and added a 10.14 — eighth fastest in U.S. high school history — this season.

Both Brown and Anthony have had a lot of hype about what they might add to the Kentucky offense. But don’t sleep on another incoming receiver, Brandon White of Cincinnati. He just ran the 100 in 10.3 seconds at his regional meet and will compete in the state meet Friday.

I know at least one UK coach who thinks the 5-9, 165-pound White is as fast as Anthony. He is a three-star recruit but Kentucky coaches believe he could turn out to be a steal with his speed and athleticism and is ranked in the top 150 at his position.

He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.28 seconds as a junior — a speed that Wan’Dale Robinson did not reach in the recent NFL combine and he turned into a second-round NFL draft pick. He was the Ohio indoor state champion when he broke the 60-meter dash in 6.73 seconds.

So it sure looks like Kentucky has filled its need for speed at receiver with this recruiting class.
