A strong finish by Landon Hunt has the Christian County freshman tied for fifth place after the first round of the Kentucky Junior PGA Championship in Richmond.
Hunt overcame a lost ball penalty on the back nine to finish with a 5-over par 77 in Wednesday’s first-round played at Gibson Bay Golf Course. He birdied the final two holes, including a 33-foot putt on No. 17, to get his score back into the top five.
Despite his strong finish, Hunt is nine shots behind Louisville’s Will Judd, who carded an eagle, a hole-in-one, and a birdie over his final three holes.
The second and final round continues Thursday.
