Former Kentucky record-seeing quarterback Tim Couch is confident Kentucky is going to do just fine coming off its second 10-win season in the last four years.
“I love the system they have. You can win year in, year out with it,” Couch said. “They want a NFL style approach to offense now. In the past they have kept games close and been able to pull them out and win a lot of games that way.”
Couch knows what it was like to play on a team without a solid defense. He got Kentucky to the Outback Bowl in 1998 but it took a record-setting offensive season.
“All you can ask for is to have a chance in the fourth quarter to win. That’s how Mark Stoops built the team with a good defense and offense that was about the running game.”
“It has worked great for them but now they have added a NFL style passing game and big-time quarterback in Will Levis to make it even better.”

I agree that Stoops has a good system, but the talent level now at UK is the best in my lifetime by far. He has elevated, without a doubt. football to new levels at UK. That is the biggest difference, and a much improved defense has been the key factor.
I think this year’s success hinges on UK’s ability to move the chains consistently on the ground and through the air in a balanced attack. I look for a potent UK offense with Levis directing quick strikes as well as long drives. Long drives wear out opposing defenses and they rest UK’s. I look for both the offense and defense to prove UK is for real in 22. I believe they have the young men now to make some noise on both sides of the LOS.
My concern is C Rod’s status. His ability to run the football behind the Big Blue Wall is a threat that wears out opposing defenses. If he will not be available for a few games, or none at all, as some are saying, that would be a huge loss for this football team. If that becomes true, then I hope the next man up can get it done, but C Rod is a "bulldozer" UK needs on third and short. He has proven that time and time again in his time wearing the blue and white. I have not heard the status of his case, maybe I missed it, but UK needs him against the gators in Gainesville…. big time! I think he is the best RB in the SEC right now. It would be a shame were he unable to play, especially against UK’s SEC opponents in his last year.
