Princeton native Emma Talley tees off at 7:49 a.m. Eastern time Thursday morning in the first round of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship — one of five majors on the LPGA Tour.

This year’s event will be contested at Congressional Country Club’s newly restored Blue Course in Bethesda, Maryland.

The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship annually features one of the strongest fields in women’s golf.

Talley’s playing partners for the first two rounds of the event are Jasmine Suwannapura of Thailand and Stephanie Meadow of Northern Ireland. Talley and Meadow are former teammates at the University of Alabama. That threesome begins on the No. 10 tee on Thursday.

The group will tee off on Friday at 1:06 p.m. Eastern time, beginning the second round on the No. 1 teebox.

The event begins with 156 players teeing off in first round action on Thursday. That field will be cut to the top 60 and ties after 36 holes.

The KPMG Women’s PGA announced on Tuesday that its purse would double to $9 million for this year’s tournament. At $9 million, the KPMG Women’s PGA has the second largest purse on the LPGA Tour, behind only the $10 million offered by the U.S. Women’s Open

Sunday’s winner will take home $1.35 million, also double the amount from 2021.
