Last Two Holes Disrupt Good Round for Landon Hunt at Junior Amateur Qualifier

If a round of golf were just sixteen holes, Monday would have been a much better day for Christian County’s Landon Hunt. Hunt was rolling along at even par in the 2022 U.S. Junior Amateur qualifier at the Country Club of Owensboro with just two holes left in his round.

Then came 17 and 18, and the day took a tough turn for Hunt. He would double-bogey the par-3 17th hole and then suffer the same fate on the par-4 18th hole to end his round with a four-over 76.

The round of 76 put Hunt eight shots behind the leader, Brady Smith, of Simpsonville, who finished his day at -4. Jackson Finney, of Louisville, was a shot off the lead with a round of 69. Hunt ended the day in a tie for 23rd place.

Hunt started his day off with a solid front nine, shooting a 35 to put him at one under par making the turn. Hunt continued his steady performance for the first seven holes of the back nine, going one over through 16.
